Molasses Cookies
- 1/4 Cup Molasses
- 1/2 Cup Shortening (Can be replacesd with butter/margarine)
- 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- Preheat oven to 350
- Mix the molasses, shortening, brown sugar, and egg in a bowl, comining well.
- Mix the flour, salt, and baking soda together.
- Add dry to wet and blend thoroughly
- arrange by the teaspoon on an ungreased cokie sheet about 1 inch apart
- Bake 6-8 minutes until crisp and lightly browned.
OPTIONAL: Add 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the flour mixture to make them spiced.
